Helicobacterpylori(H.pylori)infectionrepresentsthemajorcauseofpepticulcerdiseaseandisalikelycontributingfactorinthedevelopmentofgastricneoplasticdiseasessuchasgastricadenocarcinomaandmucosa-associatedlymphoidtissue(MALT)lymphoma(1).H.pyloriarespiral-curved,gram-negativebacteria.ThemajorityofH.pylorimicroorganismsresideintheunstirredlayerofthegastricmucus,butsomebindtotheluminalaspectofgastricfoveolarcells,andattachatornearintercellularjunctions,orevenlocatewithincells(2-3).However,generallytheydonotinvadetheunderlyinglaminapropria(3).Immunohistochemical(IHC)detectionofH.pyloricanspecificallydistinguishthemicroorganismsfromothertypesofbacterialinfections.CompletestainingoftheH.pylorimicrorganismhasbeenshownwiththerabbitmonoclonal.AnIHCtechnique,withheat-induced-antigenretrievalfordetectionofH.pyloriingastricbiopsies,ishighlyreliable,highlysensitive,specific,andcanbeusedonfullyautomatedIHCplatforms.
